Early morning, the sun is shining, Laimonas and I drive to Southport to shoot Amit & Priti’s Hindu wedding. We’re always excited by Hindu weddings, the colours, the drums, the rituals, the food, the exquisite clothes. It’s a ceremony of beautiful things.

Always happy to see one of our pre wedding photo’s on a wedding 🙂

The grandeur of this Mandap was a godsend for us. Isn’t it stunning?!

Our beautiful Priti arrives at the Southport Conventions Centre and goes into hiding before her groom to be turns up!

We are becoming very familiar with this Priest as he does many of the Hindu ceremonies. He’s an excellent character, always a pleasure to see him in action.

Amit anticipating the events ahead. We loved his intricate clothing

When the guests arrive, it’s like a burst of colours into this mundane town.

And the ceremony begins here… Amit arrives, the drums begin to bang, the ladies start to sing and all the guests gather around him while the bride’s Mother starts the rituals. Outsiders would think he is a prince! He’s certainly dressed for the part 🙂

I’m quite sure that this part of the ceremony is where the bride’s parents welcome the groom

The gifts are brought out for the new couple… Laimonas turned to me at one of our Indian weddings and said ‘I wish we were Hindu’, I completely agreed!

My favourite part of the whole ceremony is when the sheet is put up hiding the groom from his bride. Sat feet apart and kept hidden is so exciting and so precious!

The princess that is Priti is finally brought out

It’s so interesting to see all the different stages of a Hindu ceremony, they definitely make brilliant photos!

Finally husband and wife, tied together (literally) and showered with fresh petals, we take this picture perfect couple out and about for some ice-cream and maybe a ride on the carousel…
.jpg)
These are definitely our favourite photos! Priti and Amit went for a walk around sunny Southport Promenade and jumped on the carousel in the Fairground.

Some passersby couldn’t help but shout out how beautiful this bride looked. They turned a lot of heads!

This part of the ceremony is where the bride has to say goodbye to her family as she begins her new life with her husband…

Even the car that carries the newly weds is blessed and a coconut it placed under the wheel to be broken by the weight of the car, this is to ensure that the vehicle is road worthy for the journey.

A fascinating wedding with some twists. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with Amit & Priti and all their families. It was also lovely to see other couples who Laimonas has shot in the past. We hope to see you all again in the near future and we wish Amit & Priti all the very best in their new married lives together!
