Remember our little meeting / day we spent in York with Steve and Naomi earlier in the year? Well, we have been looking forward to it ever since, and on the 8th of September it finally came true! We arrived in their gorgeous flat, literally just outside the ancient wall that goes around the City. Their home was full of little quirks – miss matched decorations, and REAL ghost stories (Juliet was reluctant to go inside). Unprepared Steve (The Groom), was probably the last one to get into his suit, while the groomsmen were enjoying a cup of coffee, followed by Champagne, as you do!
Conveniently for the guys, the church (St George’s RC Church) was a short 10 minute walk through the historic city of York, looking dapper amongst the crowds of tourists that filled the cobbled streets. For us however, it was an Olympic challenge… Yes yes, we are all sick of hearing of the Olympics, but we literally lost weight sprinting through the crowds to get ahead of the guys, and fight off the tourists with their cameras!
Following the ceremony we arrived at the St George’s College for the reception (by speed-walking / running another marathon). It was Medieval meets Vintage, which made this reception cosy yet with the exposed timber, grand oil paintings, and learning about the history of the building – made it almost haunting, which for us was in-keeping with the theme with the Ghost Stories from their home.
Why bikes you say? Steve here crashed cycled his way into Naomi’s heart. How you say? The first time she set eyes on Steve, was when he was kitted out with full lycra gear (sexy). And BOOM, say hello to Mr and Mrs Wigley!
Steve being a cyclist enthusiast hired out two Vintage Bikes for our photoshoot, and we made our way into the cobbled streets with the beautiful York Minster in the background, with lovely warm sun streaming in.
