Wedding Venue – Le Petit Hameau, Saint-Remy de Provence, France

Who doesn’t love a destination wedding? Our favourite weddings are usually abroad for obvious reasons. Emily was a bridesmaid at her brothers London wedding which we shot in Kensington a couple of years ago (featured earlier on this blog) and that’s where we also met Rich. We love this family, they’re so tight, at her brothers wedding you could really feel the love they all have for one another and this French wedding was no exception, when the emotions are that real and raw it’s difficult not to get a good outcome for photos.
We’d never shot in the South of France before but it’s somewhere we’d always wanted to go. Saint-Remy-de-Provence is an absolute gem so much so we spent a little extra time there ourselves. Emily had a very clear vision of what she wanted for her French wedding, it was so relaxed, intimate, and of course, so French! The atmosphere was like a family holiday, their venue was a hidden away trio of villas with pools all spread out far enough that each villa felt completely secluded. Completely walled and private and landscaped with fruit trees, olives, rosemary in abundance, it was like a herb garden and an orchard all in one, every view was a view. Each villa was a pretty and typically french stone house with the pastel blues and heavenly whites, surrounded by all things green, it was almost too good to be true.
What made this French and intimate destination wedding even more dreamy was their choice of dance music, think Jubel by Klingande (no really, go listen, that’s what they had playing live). The saxophone made shooting this wedding a goose bump fest! We may have been in Le Petit Hameau but we could’ve been shooting at Ibiza sunset. When it comes to setting a vibe, this destination bride nailed it!
Their ceremony was among the rosemary bushes and guests were all given a glass of bubbly with sprigs of lavender to toast. Saxophone played them out to their drinks reception by the pool. As the sun started to set the fairy lights twinkled above their first dance.
This was one of our favourite wedding venues that we’ve ever had such a privilege to shoot in. We hope to go back there some day.
