Pick of the Week!

Vitamin String Quartet – Paradise (Coldplay)

This weeks pick opens a door to a whole genre for you to explore. It took a while to pick a single track, so I’ve gone for something current and beautiful even without strings. I was thinking Bruno Mars, mainly because I thought a lot of women would like to hear his lyrics on their day, he usually gets it spot on. But with todays track I imagine an outdoor ceremony where this is being played (it would be amazing if it was by a live orchestral band) while the bride walks down the isle… then very softly throughout the ceremony, and picked up again after the ‘I do’s’. If this is the type of music you want to hear at your wedding, the Vitamin String Quartet cover most contemporary tracks as well as older songs so they are worth checking out (and I will continue to hunt down a string quartet in the UK as good as these guys!!) For some reason, I like to hear my favourite songs in strings.

This photograph was taken in 2011 at James and Amy’s beautiful Countryside Wedding in Preston. We started off in Amy’s parent’s farm in Whittle-le-Woods, an incredible and stylish house with stunning surroundings. After photographing the ceremony at Chorley United Reform Church we took a lovely drive towards Chorley Equestrian Centre, where this was shot. Admittedly you really need to see this full size, the expressions are fantastic!

We are currently working on featuring James and Amy’s wedding for our main page. Vintage theme, fun shots in the barn, it has to be up there!

Pick of the Week!

The Black Keys – Never Give You Up

This is my favourite song right now. The Black Keys are huge at the moment, but this song is from their last album and I think it sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the rest of their music. It’s a pretty song, a real love song. It’s a bit retro and I can imagine this being played at a vintage wedding where the bride is wearing cowboy boots and a daisy hair garland, dancing with her groom under beautiful fairy lights in a barn with bunting from pillar to post, the floor covered in a mixture of confetti and bits of straw, an acoustic band in the corner and beer bottles for candle stick holders on every little round table…

Sometimes I let my imagination run far far away from me. Listen to this song, grab your lovers hand, stop what you are both doing and have a slow dance. If your lovers away, dance with your dog, or just close your eyes and dance with yourself.
